Those Were The Days…………..When everything was brand new..
From The large Cav ( Cavendish Ballroom) to The International Club (Princes St)
to Musselburgh Casino all in one night!!!..even along to North Berwick Pavillion.
Playing at the Casablanca Club (Off Rose St), The Top Storey club above the snooker hall! ,
supporting Taste with Rory Gallacher at a small club in a close off The High St (near Jeffrey St) ,
to appearing with Temperance 7.
On same stage one night with Tear Gas who later evolved into Alex Harvey Band…happy times indeed.
Hiding behind a wire mesh pull down screen to stop bottles being thrown at performers
(Just like in The Blues Brothers movie ,except real life!).
In the Van Trips North overnight to Stonehaven , Fraserburgh etc etc etc…and so on.
Getting the van turned upside down ,oh I could go on!!!
Speakers bouncing around in the back of the van ,
propshaft falling off .oh what fun!
After the pubs closed the dance halls filled up and I recall singing Day Tripper in Peebles only to jump away as a set of false teeth landed on the stage….(another brawl)..happy days indeed.
Stay With Me Baby
Best of all was performing exciting new music to big crowds and having a great time! I am pleased to say some of the band still play together when we can , in changing times. Rock N Roll and great music lives on and we aim to keep it that way. I happen to think that Bob (Drums) and Dougie (Lead guitar) were at the time and still are perhaps two of the very best musicians around!!! Ronnie
